Snap and Wide Screen monitors

Then open OS/2 System -> System Setup -> System and select the new resolution
from the list (may need a reboot first).

I have the same resolution.
I was having the opposite problem, desktop was narrower than the screen.
Then someone said try a lower refresh rate.
I changed from 70 to 60, and poof, problem solved
