Installing Programs for HOBLink X11


Installing the GIMP X Application. Please carry out the following steps to run X applications on an OS/2 computer.

  1. Install TCP/IP (if not yet installed).
  2. Install XFree Libs with Warpin.  Restart the system.
  3. Install Gnome Libs with Warpin.  Restart the system.
  4. Install Gimp under Warpin.
  5. After the installation, change the file name "GIMP1.1.2.5.EXE" to "GIMP.EXE" in the Program object properties.
  6. Restart the system.
  7. Run "X-Settings" for HOBLink X11.
  8. Open the "Color" folder
  9. Set Xdepth and Image Format to "Auto".
  10. Save the configuration.
  11. Run HOBLink X11 using the XServer icon and then run the desired X application (in this case, GIMP).

Installing Xchat 1.6.1

  1. Download Xchat 1.6.1.
  2. Download gdk-pixbuf-0.8.0.zip.
  3. Installing both programs into Xfree86 directory, where you installed the XFree Libs package.
  4. Created a program object for Xchat located in the XFree86\bin directory.
  5. Start up the HOBlink X11 Server and then you are ready!
