Quick and easy Internet radio on eCS
eCS has the ability to play icecast streams, which is similar to SHOUTcast streams. Icecast is a streaming media project released as free software maintained by the Xiph.org Foundation. The Icecast server is capable of streaming content as Vorbis over standard HTTP, Theora over HTTP, MP3 over the protocol used by SHOUTcast, AAC, and NSV over the SHOUTcast protocol. (Theora, AAC, and NSV are only supported in version 2.2.0 and newer.)
Icecast uses external programs(VLC), called "source clients", to originate the streams, and the Icecast project includes a source client program known as IceS. The source runs typically in the place where the audio is generated (e. g. a studio) and the Icecast server in a place where a lot of bandwidth is available (e. g., a colocation).
It has similar functionality to the proprietary media server program SHOUTcast, by Nullsoft.Setting up your Internet Radio playlist

There is one problem with the M3U lists. They must be downloaded and opened with a text editor to get the URL. The editor included with eCom does not work for me.
Using Z for Internet Radio
First, download Z from the os2site.com: http://www.os2site.com/sw/mmedia/players/z/index.htmlThe latest version is: z_oct_16_2008.zip
And unfortunately the authors web site is down, so it may be the last version.
Setting up Z
Using Z with http://www.shoutcast.com/ and ICEcast servers. When you click on a link in Firefox, it will ask you how to open up 'your-station.pls'. Use the open with dialog => Other and then point Firefox to z.exe and select 'Do this automatically...' if you wish to use Z.exe from now on.Since the website is down along with the documentation any help is welcome............
Setting up your MP3 playlist
Use the instructions below to add seamless playback of MP3 files to eCom 2.0. Then create a folder with shadow objects of all your favorite MP3s and drag it to eWPS for quick and easy playlist.
The MMAudio Pak by Russell O'Connor is a collection of audio IO procedures to extend OS/2's multimedia system. After installation you seamlessly play mp3, ogg, and flac files by double-clicking on the file's icon!!!
eComStation 1.2 needs a modified version MMAudio Pak to install support for MP3 files. You will have to use this modified script to install the MP3 audio IO procedures, due to the license for the MP3 codec. I do not know if earlier version of eComStation have the audio IO procedures installed.
Either way the MMAduioPak is a great addition to eComStation for playing MP3 files seamlessly from the WPS. You can also add a folder to eCenter wtih shadows of your favorite MP3s song for a quick and easy playlist.

Streaming video with cclive and VLC
NOTE: Just download from netlabs, Abby v0.4.8 There is a zipfile in named: lua.zip This is the missing scripts for cclive v0.6.3 You have to unzip then to: ?:\HOME\DEFAULT\.quvi And cclive should work fine... Btw Abby is a gui for CClive ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/qtapps/abby-0.4.8-os2.zipBarbara wrote:
Ok, solve the problem:
- Add in config.sys the statement
SET CCLIVE_HOME=C:\HOME\Default
- create a file in C:\HOME\Default named ".ccliverc"
content:
filename-format = "%t.%s"
format = "best"
stream-exec = "C:\usr\local\bin\vlc.exe %i"are minimal settings for my purpose, more statements on cclive main url..manual
Create a program object named "Stream" pointing to cclive.exe (unpack somewhere
in PATH should be preferred).
The parameters:
--stream-pass "[ ]"
Working directory where is cclive.exe
check in Session panel "Start minimized" and "Close window on exit", Window tab,
Open object behavior "Create a new window". Now, simply pasting the url in the pop-up
menu clicking on "Stream" object, will start vlc streaming the media!!
A shadow of "Stream" program object in the eCenter will help your web-surfing Wink !!!
For the moment the only players that can do this are vlc and smplayer. Mplayer, kmp and
ffplay wait all for the end of download before start (gnash does not works).
The supported sites are all sites available for cclive 0.6.3 (latest), a large number. Now i
can waiting for flash10 without need Clipgrab..Abby..or other similar programs..simply
using the WPS features!!
Regards,
Barbara.
